MADRID: TABERNA LA DANIELA

July 15th, 2012 | Posted by The Booyah Cook in Restaurant | Travel

Taberna La Daniela wasn’t too far from my hotel and I didn’t feel two much of a loser there eating on my own – so I went there two nights in a row just from the white asparagus and “brie” on toast. So just so you understand, I didn’t stuff myself with ALL of this in one go. It was two very lazy and comfortable sittings.

This is the stinkiest blue cheese I ever had in my life. Queso de Cabrales – or the Cabrales part is a name protected by Euro law and only cheeses made in this way from the North of Spain are allowed to be called Cabrales. It can also be a mixed milk cheese and in this case was super tangy, stinky and AMAZING especially with the caramelised apple on the top. Just thinking about it I am salivating.

Iberico ham and tomato.

Local naked ladies in neon pink fishnets.

On the left Quails eggs and chorizo, on the right, the thing I came back twice for white asparagus and brie.

No-one really spoke English, but the menus were in English as well as Spanish so all was good. As you can see I most definitely didn’t go hungry.

Most of the “canapes” as they called them were €3.50 if you ate them at the bar, but at the table were €4.50.

This dessert was a sorbet and champagne. On a warm night it was most delish! When I go back to Madrid next, I will visit again for sure.
